Default lt1/lt4 head question

in the interest of saving time can lt1 heads be ported to lt4 intake port size?intake?you can pick up these parts cheaper than lt4 stuff.i know they will need the larger lt4 valves.i thought of buying lt1 stuff ,doing the required porting + some, and swapping them with whats on the car without all the down time.or should i go with 4.10's instead?the car already has 52mm tb,long tubes, and computer tune.help me decide

LT1 heads can be ported to outflow LT4 out-of-the-box heads, yes.

You already have LT4 heads on the car. I personally would not swap LT1 heads (ported or not) on to the car. If you want to save the down time, there are several guys on camaroz28.com that are selling fully ported or CNC-ported LT4 heads. Buy those heads and sell your stock LT4 heads. Do not bastard-ize your LT4 motor. Just my 2 cents..............

THe LT4 heads have raised runners and the LT4 intake is made to work with the raised runners, I do not think there is enough material in the LT1 heads to get the runner height correct to work with the LT4 intake but AI or Lloyed elliot would be able to tell you for sure.

Lt4 heads are great heads. Port those next winter and get the 4.10s now!

Get the 4.10s they will give a much bigger kick in the pants than porting the heads will and you can have a shop install them in two days.

You may be able to open the LT1 heads up to equal the LT4 piece, depending on individual castings. But it looks like the LT4 would be a better starting point.
