Default Re: CODE QUESTION (DADDY D)

Code 32 is EGR related. It means that the EGR temp sensor did not pick up the high temp exhuast gas when the ECM commanded the EGR to open. This could be many things including the EGR temp sensor (most likely, check the connection on top and the sensor itself), the EGR valve, the EGR solonoid, and various vacuum connections and electrical connections. On some years (perhaps not 86) this can also be caused from a very low backpressure from an aftermarket exhaust and / or no cat converters.

Best way to get get the codes and lots of diagnostic info is to spend the $100 or less for the Helms manual for your car- knowing just what the code mean does not really help. Best money you will ever spend if you work on your car.

Good Luck,

Pete
