Still working on my 86. When I go to crank it on the first turn nothing. The next turn it wants to crank but dies trying. One the next turn it fires up good. Any suggestions?
BAttery is about 1 month old and shows 13.2 voltage on a multimeter. Fuel pump relay is 2 weeks old I believe it is working good, shows to light up when it should on a test light. Just seems to me that I is either not getting the spark when it needs it or fuel when it needs it . NOTE: I forgot to mention that when the engine is warm it fires up on first turn, just when it is cold it takes 3 times to get it to fire up.
Are you saying it cranks-or are you saying it doesn't crank at all when you first try? if it's cranking when cold but not catching it could be the cold start injector-if it's not cranking at all-how's the starter? is it clicking or what? just trying to understand a little better. And you do here the fuel pump prime for about 2 seconds when turning the key to the on position right? What Agent86 was saying is if it cranks but doesn't start it maybe your relay because if it's bad the fuel system will energize when oil pressure reaches approximately 4 pounds.

The starter works fine. When I turn the key the engine turns over but want start. The second turn and the engine stumbles to start but dies. On the third turn it starts up immediatly. This only happens when I try it for the first time everyday. But when I idle or drive the car and turn the key off, then turn the key on again it starts up no problem. Correct, about what Agent86 said. I do hear the pump prime for 2 seconds and fuel pressure is about 43 psi before start up and 40 psi running. Thanks
In the AM turn the key on and off 3 times when cold without engauging the starter and let us know what happens.
After you do that 3 times then let us know how long you have to crank to get the engine to start

REDC4CORVETTE, I tried to turn the key on and off 3 times (without engaging starter) and still does the same thing. I drove it about 5 miles and turned it off. Then I turned the key 1 time and it fired up.
