Default door panel removal

What are the steps in removing the right door panel of a 1992 coupe? After removing the screws at the bottom of the panel, what's next? I need to tighten the arm rest-door pull handle and also something on inside of the door is scratching the window.

With my '88 you also need to remove some screws around the door pull & handle, the one in the door edge by the latch and the four around the speaker grill. You push down and out on the top of the pannel to free the top; then lift the bottom. Then you can move it back far enough to access the cable connectors.

Sounds like you need to replace the felt-tip pads that keep the window from rattling.

Hi JB:

Heres how to remove the door trim panels on a 1995. I don't know for sure if it is the same for a 1992, but I think so. In addition to the plugs along the bottom of the door panels and the screw in each arm rest cup, there are three hidden screws holding the left door panel on and two hidden screws for the right panel.

Two of the hidden screws are behind the courtesy lamp on the door and the other one (on the left panel only) is behind the lock rod. To get at the first two just pry out the courtesy lamp (downward and out from the top using something that won't mar the plastic lens). Make sure when you put the panel back on that the the shorter of these two screws goes in the hole towards the front of the door. The longer screw in that hole will interfer with the door glass. To reach the other (left only) hidden screw, remove the **** on the lock rod by prying it straight out (the lock rod is "L" shaped on the end).

After removing all of these screws, disconnect the wires from the (left) armrest switch panel and remove it. On the right, remove the armrest cup. Also remove the plastic bezel around the door handle on both sides. You now can remove the door panels by lifting them up and out.

Vettes are never straightforward to work on. :(

On my 93 there was also one long screw behind the switch for the power window. You hve to remove the switch to get to it.
