Default ratio questions again..

On a BONE stock l98 with auto will 3.73 really be TO much, if the fuel isent a issue?? With my OLD 2.59 i ran 1580 RPM at 60MPH in OD, so it feelt like I hade much to take.. And isent the tranny going to "last" longer when it doesnt need to pull the car at a low RPM ( in OD and lock-up ). Sometimes when i run the old 2.59, i could really feel sorry for the car trying to maintane speed at a high climb, when in OD and lock-up. Now I run 3.07 and things is better, but I cant say its not SO much of a diffrence. I have still MUCH top end RPM to take off. And I will never see speeds around 130MPH either, ( i think ).
I know the l98 have hard breathing at high RPM, but I still think gears is THE best bang for the buck ( not including NOS ).
We hade a articel in a big swedish car magazine 1 year ago about a C4 1990 cope auto. It ran 14.4 all stock, and all they did whas swap the dana from 2.59 to 3.73 and they took 1 sec of that time! They ran 13.46, ofcourse they had slicks on. My vette is a preformance car (for me), and will never be my daily driver, so fuel and sound level is never going to be a issue for me..
Im planing to swap my 307 to a 3.73. I have a shop here in sweden that is going to do it, and they also leave a 2 year warranty. They build drive-lines for funny cars and super stock car so they know what they are doing.
what is your feedback on this?

Best regards.

( the 1990 with 3.73 kicked a -94 LT1 stock on that same articel, not by much but it did. )
