Default How do you know ?

How do you know when you need your shocks replaced ? My 91 A4 has 68,xxx on it . It's my first Vette and I've owned it for about 3 weeks . I keep on reading how much better rides people have gotten by replacing theres shocks . I think my ride is fine on the car but then again I wonder if it could be better and I'm not noticing it do to not ever owning one before .

Thanks , Patsfan

If you see any fluid leaking out of the shock, that is if they are hydraulic. They always used to say to bounce/push the fender down several times and see how many times it bounces back at you. If the left and the right do not respond the same that would be an indicator of a bad shock on 1 side?

First off, these are sports cars. If you expect one to ride like your father's Oldmobile, you'll be disapointed. Does your car have the FX3 suspension? If it does, there is a **** on the center console with three settings: touring, sport and firm (I think). If you think the ride is too firm check the setting of the suspension. If its set on touring (the softest) and is still too firm, like I said, this is not your father's Oldsmobile. You could replace the shocks with softer rideing non-adjustables.

Thanks for the reply's This sight rules . I dont have a issue with the stiffness of the ride. I also dont have the fx3 option . The only reason I was asking is because I always read how when any-one replace's them that they have a "great and much improved ride " . I guess I'm stewing on were to spend my first $ on this car . It's either going to be Shocks , A cat-back MagnaFlow or new OE gunmetal rims . Any more insight on this subject would be great .

Thanks , PatsFan

Generally they are gone at 75K, so they need replacing anyway.
