After a recent visit to the track I have gotten the urge to race again(other than the occasional stoplight) and wanted some opinions on to juice or not to juice Thanks guys :D
NO2 can be fun when used right.... I won't ever use it because cheap power ends up in expensive repairs. Just my opinion though. Many guys on here have had great experiences with it, but check out this thread, and you'll see (yes... see pictures) of why I don't use NO2 : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=132641
Chris is absolutely right, you have to be aware what CAN happen. It doesn't always happen though. The problem with nitrous is the "some is good, more is better" theory. It is WAY to easy to go from 50hp to 200hp in about 10 minutes. People get all fired up and go to big and then bad things happen. Just do your homework and use every safety device when you install the kit and everything will be fine. At least as fine as it can be.
car is getting ready to turn 82000 so if something did happen it would force me to do it right(real power) I was considering the kit from nos for the tpi and would not push it past 125 shot for 500 bucks i figured it would be easy fun power
None of the "kits" have everyting you need to run Nitrous safely. They have the bare bones bottle, jets, line, WOT switch, and relays. To be more on the safe side, you need a fuel pressure safety switch, a RPM window switch, nd an ignition retard device at least. A good beginner setup will run you about $750 for the parts.
Sure, i've got a NX single fogger nozzle wet kit with a 15lb. bottle and heater. I think it is pretty much their generic EFI kit. Seems like they sell the same fit for every application. I am running the nozzle before the throttle body in the inlet tubing. I bought it from a guy in Dallas used for $350. I think it sells new for around $500. I added the window switch and fuel pressure cut off switch. I will be installing a 255l fuel pump next week for insurance.
Ive squeezed a 250 shot on mine for a street race for a lotta money...no problems so far.. i use about a bottle per week. Why skip on the biggest horsepower maker you can get for the money. I can smoke a $10000 small block chevy motor that runs on the motor by pushing my $250 nitrous kit button
I'm considering installing it also. I understand Jacob's Electronics has a good control system that provides protection from most of the bad things that could happen. Summit Racing sells it, or you could use a search engine to find Jacob's website. :chevy
http://steeltownvette.com/knights.htm take a look @ that and then ask your self is it worth it btw that was done with a 125 shot of NOS on a 91 454SS. :U
NOS is a blast! (Not kaboom)Take it real small like the other guys said. Learn how to use it safely. I'm looking for an 11.99 in a stock 95 with 125hp shot of the juice. Just got some drag radials. 12.30 so far without the tires. Gonna try tonight.
Don't go beyond 125hp without aftermarket forged pistons.
NOS is a easy way to go faster but it can cost you to if you dont do it right.
To get the most out of NOS you have to build your engine for it, you have to have the heads, exhaust and cam for it.
A engine that is using NOS does not like a lot of compression (because when you spray it you are building a lot of compression in your engine, dont go much over 11:1) but you will not have to worrie about that since your engine is stock.
Lot of people on here put in bigger fuel pumps when they go NOS and there is nothing wrong with that but I would put in a nother one just for the juice that would start running when I make the NOS hot, then when you dont have it hot the car is not running rich all the time because of that big fuel pump. You have to take out some timeing when you run the juice and to do that I would use a MSD box with them you can take out timeing when you make the NOS hot.
I would not go much over 125hp shot because if you do then anything can happen, use a RPM switch to turn it off some people turn it on with that too, NOS does not like to hit the rev limiter and a fuel pressure safety switch is a good thing to have too, but you have to make sure that it is set right and a purge kit is a good thing to have.
A big pump won't make it run any richer as long as you set your fuel pressure back where it needs to be after you put it in. Definitely need to do the other stuff.
