pre cats

I looking replace the exhaust on my 90.I was wondering if anyone ,in MD has done away the pre cats and still past emissions test. would a high flow cat help or hurt.

I gutted the front two and ran straight pipe thru the back one. Not too bad dont know if it will pass and i dont really care lol

From what I've read the pre-cats are only to help the emissions when the car is first warming up. Once the main cat is hot it does most of the work. By that logic if you have a good main cat and the car is warmed up when you get it tested you should be fine. I had my 90 tested without precats and a magnaflow main and it was fine in CO.
