Unless you have a federal requirement for mufflers, just replace the sodding things with straight pipes. I took my '86 to a muffler shop and the bent up some pipes and just eliminated the mufflers. I also put a high performance catalytic converter on it, which increased the HP somewhat, but reduced the backpressure to the point that I always get a code for the EGR. There is not enough backpressure for the EGR to work. But as long as I know what the code is I don't care.
ive got my cats guttsd, and Borla exhaust... its gotta nice loud pur and VROOM to it...
it sounds totally better with the exhaust all the way off though! i just disconnect the rear y-pipe from the cat hehe... its LOUD then.. sounds just like a nascar!
Had mine done last night(no cat no muffs no codes)they sound great but I wish they were a little louder anyone who has not done this should because it sounds great
...i asked a dealer, he said, no codes, when i drive without mufflers...
Where is the backpressure measured? I thought, the EGR only allows to return a various amont of exhaust gases...
Is there a pressure control for the exhaust gases in the valve?
