bad burns can happenthe local autozone has a loaner program they require a deposit but you get it all back when you return the tester
your problem sounds alot like one ihad on my 88 i had a bad cap but the real problem was a water pump going south it did'nt show until i replaced the cap then it started to weep from the pump

Wondered about that. W.P. has about 5 or 6 thousand miles on it but is about6 years old. Taking it to the oil drivethru 
in a minute so I can get under there with a flashlight and check for moisture.

No moisture around W.P., oil cooler lines, etc. Smelled coolant when standing behind it while running. Ill try the pressure test with it running tomorrow, this isnt looking good.
