I tested it at Autozone, manager loaned me one. Motor was hot, but off. Ill go back tomorrow and try it with motor running, good tip there.
i sure you already know but just for safety sake i'll say it, do not remove the rad cap while the engine is hot bad burns can happen
the local autozone has a loaner program they require a deposit but you get it all back when you return the tester
your problem sounds alot like one ihad on my 88 i had a bad cap but the real problem was a water pump going south it did'nt show until i replaced the cap then it started to weep from the pump

Wondered about that. W.P. has about 5 or 6 thousand miles on it but is about6 years old. Taking it to the oil drivethru in a minute so I can get under there with a flashlight and check for moisture.
No moisture around W.P., oil cooler lines, etc. Smelled coolant when standing behind it while running. Ill try the pressure test with it running tomorrow, this isnt looking good.
