Default CC - Rad thread

Your car just went back together after major and
lengthy disassembly - any chance that one or more
ground straps got left on the bench?

The tests mentioned in those links I posted in the
other thread are dead simple to perform. Given that
the leak developed in a very short time and that this
is the second instance (OEM rad being the first, IIRC),
I'd begin by checking whether there is trouble while
starting. Get a buddy or use a starter bump switch
to check what is happening. If that tests ok, do the
others.

Also, did I see right - you put old coolant in the new
rad? From what I learned last fall, new aluminum
goes through a period of seasoning after installation.
During that time, the additive package in coolant is
consumed quickly. This is why I changed my new
coolant again about a month after installing the new
rad.

You mentioned the fluid you reused had 10k on it
- but what does that translate to in terms of time?
Practice in North America has been to leave coolant
in place until the car heads to the crusher. Other
regions with more history using alloy engine components
strongly recommend coolant replacement at least every
two years.
