anyone know the bulb number for the bulbs that light up the speedo and tach? theyre the ones accessed by removing the dash facia, and are hidden under some metal covers that appear to reflect the light to where its needed, , they look about the same as a 194 bulb but have two metal tail wires sticking out of the bottom, I took one to the parts plus store and they told me they hadnt a clue what king of bulb it was, and didnt even think they could get one,
if anyone knows what bulb this is, please holler
the car is a 89 coupe

Every store or distributor has their own no#. Ecklers has them on their web site, you'll find them under "cluster". they are halogen, and burn very hot,so don't touch them with bare fingers, the oil in your skin shortens the life. I got mine from the Chevy dealer for $9.95 each. They are expensive,$12.95 each, from Ecklers, and I think you have 4.
BTW, got mine a NAPA, I think they were about $5 each. I am missing one of the metal tabs (heat shield I think is the right term) and was a little concerned about it, but the dash light correctly and the platic dash trim cover gets a little warm there, but not too bad. Been about a year, no probs with heat or discoloration.

if you do touch em , dip em in vodka and wipe with a clean dry cloth to get ''finger oil'' off...(rubbing alcohol works good too, but disposal of byproduct is less fun)
Thanks ya'll for your help.the bulb is indeed a 882, just got one from O'reillys, what threw me at first is it comes in a plastic bulb holder, all ready to twist and lock, however, i never disassembled the dash that far, and i just pulled the bulb out from the front, luckily the new one, once out of its holder went into the original holder (from the front), but it took me a good 30 mins and a lot of looking for the darned bulb every time i dropped it...I was using pliers, very carefully, so i wouldnt have to touch the bulb..anyway its all back together and working again
