code 43.. ever not a knock sensor and which one if it is?
just as title says, I am showing an intermittent code 43.. sometimes on sometimes off.. any reason other then a bad knock sensor.. I have had this problem a few years back and changing one of the knock sensors cured it. is there a way to test a knock sensor? to dial in which one is bad? I wish I had remembered which one it was but after the 355 rebuild, they just kinda found their way back into the block and I don't know which was the new one and which was the old one.
If you have a scanner you could do a data log with the key on engine off and hit the block with a hammer near the knock sensors and see if it picks it up...that's about the only test I've ever seen for a knock sensor.

thanks in advance!

Chris the first thing to check is the resistance of the KS. The resistance should be between 3300 and 4500 ohms. The PCM monitors this resistance to ground, it is known as a shunt resistor. Make sure that the wires are good and that the connection is good. So if the resistance checks out, then check the continuity of the circtuit between the PCM and the KS connector, you should have less than 5 ohms between the two points.
If the resistance is correct you may have an intermittent open circuit. The PCM just looks for this reisistance to check its circuit. You can even place a resistor of that value to ground and the PCM wouldn't know any better, the bad thing is that there would be no KR if its needed!
