Default Flowmaster?

I need to replace the Y pipe on my 1990 L-98. From the cat forward it looks like new. The Y pipe was a hole at one of the bends and the mufflers look good. The car is all stock. I was thinking K&N filter and a Flowmaster cat back system. Any thoughts?

Some like 'em, some hate 'em.

I have had flowmaster 50 series direct fit mufflers on my car since the early 90's. I personally like the sound, and I have gotten lots of positive compliments over the years. Although after adding an x-pipe recently, they're almost too quiet now.

I think they also have a 50 series delta flow direct fit which should be quieter than the regular 50 series.

I have been through several exhaust iterations, from cats and y-pipes, true duals, long tubes and true duals, and now long tubes and duals with x-pipe

If I was starting again with a stock car y-pipe arrangement, I would consider a magnaflow catback, since they look much nicer and are ss.

The magnaflow looks attractive at $519 from corvettegarage.com

It's a subjective matter. But personally I detest the sound of Flowmaster 40s and it's not just because of the sound level. That being said, the Force II system for C4s uses a 50 series muffler who's exact name escapes me at the moment. It has a very nice sound to it that I like a lot. I would seriously consider it, were I in the market for a system.

Larry: I put these on my 89 last fall: http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?product_id=15658
Mr. Mojo had given me some advice to use a forum coupon on this site and I got the "Y" pipe and two mufflers placed on my front porch for $435 total. If you want the coupon, send me and email to: samlam@charter.net. These puppies are somewhat louder than stock.....and I love it

I have the Flowmaster force II 50 series for mine and I really like the sound. Not too loud but meaty enough for my tastes.
