I finally found a waterpump. It's an edelbrock off the jegs website. But I have a question. What's the difference between standard and reverse rotation? Which would you recommend for a non ZR1 1990 daily driver? Thanks! -Cooter

One pumps when it turns clockwise and the other pumps when it turns counter clockwise

For "a non ZR1 1990 daily driver" you are probably better off with a reverse rotation water pump.

Isnt the LT1 "reverse cooled"? So wouldn't the pump in question only work on LT1?

if it is a lt1 it better be reverse flow or your going to cook your heads. the reverse flow is to send the water to the heads first so they stay cool.

Because the belt goes under the pulley, it is reverse.
If your belt went over the top part of the pulley, it would be normal

It's not a choice or which is better. There's no difference in function or efficiency but instead a matter of which one your application requires. You definitely don't want your W/P turning in the wrong direction.

What year is the car, a 90? That would be a TPI.

Where did LT1 come from? The opening post says:

The last time *I* looked that meant it was an L98.

It isn't an LT1. And even if it was, the "reverse flow cooling" doesn't necessarily require a reverse ROTATION water pump. And then, reverse of what? An L82 or an L98?

I plead guilty to trying to have some fun. Reverse rotation is the right answer, but the application charts would show that. I was just funnin' and played like the reverse rotation would be best for a mild, daily driver. The rotation of the pump HAS to be so that the belt will make it pump. All Chevy water pumps only ever turned in one direction, standard rotation. When serpentine belts came into fashion the water pump pulley was driven off the back side of the belt turning the water pump the wrong way. Eureka! The reverse rotation water pump was born. In 99.9% of the cases, if the water pump is "V" belt driven, the water pump will be a "standard rotation pump. If there is a serpentine belt it is probably a reverse rotation pump. I didn't mean for my fun to cause such an up roar. *I* thought it was more of a common knowledge item than it seems to be. Sorry, all.

RACE ON!!!
