what is their purpose? what do they do? how do they help you? are they nessecary for a certain rpm level? i think AFR and a few other companies make them. is one better than the others?
According to the guy's that are honest at AFR the rev kit they sell realy does nothing.
They told me the same thing, don't buy it unless you are having a problem with the lifters collapsing due to high valve spring pressure.
If you run a large hyd roller cam and the spring pressure is high (over 350 LBS over the nose) the hyd lifter may collapse. If you run the rev kit you may be able to reduce the spring pressure on the plunger in the lifter because the rev kit will control the lifter and the valve spring will only have to control the valve, rocker and pushrod. This may allow you to rev higher but I have never used a rev kit and to make it work correctly would take some work to determine what valve springs should used. You do not want to end up with valve float because you reduced your spring pressure too much.
