What is a Quad driver?

I have had quad driver codes in the past and fixing the system causing the code cleared it.
They are used to turn on relays and solenoids. They have protection circuitry built in that will set a fault if it detects high current. The problem is usually in the circuit being controlled, not the quad driver (and therefore not an ECM/PCM problem).
The troubleshooting procedure is:
Determine which circuits are being controlled by the quad driver in question.
Disconnect all the circuits involved.
Reset the ECM to clear the error codes.
Plug in the controlled circuits one by one and check to see if the error has come back.
When you get an error code then the last circuit connected is the one with the problem.
You can also check the various circuits with a meter to see if there is a short, either in the device or in the wiring to ground.
