Thanks for checking out my thread. I've just purchased my first Corvette, a black 86' vert. She had a blown head gasket so I decided to go ahead and pull the engine for a full rebuild. I've reinstalled the engine but had some vacuum and egr issues that I thought would be best handled by my local (smog) mechanic. He has corrected my hose routing screwups but has been unable to stop the vacuum leak at the cold start injector(valve). The baseplate of the valve is bent and doesn't want to play nice after our attempts to straighten it out. My local Chevrolet dealer contacted GM to try and replace it completely, but GM says it's discontinued. Any ideas where one may be had? The car is at the shop now and I hate to leave it there too long. Take care
I had bent the mounting flange on my cold start and was able to straighten it out.
When installing it, lay the feed tube loosly into the rear of the fuel rail, use a strong light to be sure the flange is seated properly before tightening the Torx bolt. With the Torx a little loose install the fuel feed tube into the rear of the fuel rail.
I have one i just removed from my 86. I'm going with a super ram with no cold start injector so it and the rest of my stock parts are up for sale soon.
$20 plus shipping sound fair
[B]Holy Moly! That's retarded! I have been able to find it for lots less than that locally however my repair shop beat me to it. I can't wait to see what he's gonna charge me for it! Thank you so much for all of your input, especially you Dan. I'm sure I'll be posting photos and such when I get her home. Take Care
