IR Thermometer Recommendations
Lookin' to buy an Infrared 'gun' Thermometer for measuring exhaust temps. Not sure which brands/models are the best. Any opinions? TIA

Look for the Extech models.
For little, if any more money than units with ceilings of < 1,000 deg
the Extech will give you capability for > 1,500.
A search will locate some model #s and specs I've posted before. Or

Ratech is a popular choice. I had one for a while and it always worked well, I had the base model, I believe $99. More expensive models are little more accurate, especially as the distance from the source increases, not a necessity for automotive applications.
I don't remember the heat range, but it was high enough to point at a header tube and determine if that cylinder was firing.
Another recommendation, don't let your 2 year old get it, he will chase the dog playing laser tag with his butt then put it in a super secret hiding spot, never to be found again.
