so my electric cutouts dont work. they keep popping fuses, and the manufacturer says that the fuse need to be a 1 amp. i've got it wired in thru the accessory plug under the console, and it worked for over a year and a half. but then i had some work done, and wires were cut yadda yadda, anyhow the shoddy mechanics messes something up. any ideas on how i can fix this or where i can get another 1 amp power source close by under the console? the power would only need to be with switch on. can someone guide me please as to what color wire i can tap into and where it's located? i'd really like to get these things working again. thanks so very much.
Finding a source of more current is not your answer unless you like to watch a corvette burn to the ground. If the cutouts worked originally with a 1 amp fuse, then they should still work with a 1 amp fuse (should be a slow blow fuse). Most likely the wires going to the cutouts have insulation abraded showing bare wire which is touching ground and a short circuit will blow a 1 amp fuse instantly, AND any other size fuse you can get into the fuse holder. The cutout actuator may also have been damaged causing an internal short. You need to follow the power wire from the source of 12v all the way to the cutout actuator and see if the wire is pinched, bare, or shorted somehow. If not, then the actuator may be shorted and you need to determine if that is true. Don't waste your time finding a source of higher current !
