I just bought new shocks and tires (Bilsteins + Goodyear GS3s), and I get a small vibration at speeds over 40, but it is most noticeable and seems to worsen at speeds over 75.
I have had the tires balanced twice. I have lubed the balljoints, and the wheel bearings are all good. I do have warped rotors, because it shakes horribly when I apply the brakes at speeds over 40. I was going to hold off on replacing rotors due to lack of money, but now I'm willing to pay anything to get the smoot ride back. Anyone come across similar problems, or have any ideas what could be the cause?
i had similar vibration problems when I had a set of new Kuhmos installed, and let Firestone balance and install....bad move on my part. Then I had my wheels re-balanced on a GSP9700 at Goodyear....problem solved.
And how do we know if the tire place does a 'Road force balance'?
Do I just ask for that specifically?
you should not have to ask, it is part of the GSP9700 balancing "package"
"The GSP9700 simulates a “road test”, with a unique “load roller” which applies up to 1400 lbs of force against the rotating assembly. The roller measures the loaded runout of the assembly (deflection while under load) and automatically recommends corrections when needed. The GSP9700's technology eliminates many of the time consuming, subjective and often non-productive manual measurements previously used to diagnose and repair ride disturbance concerns."
finding a road force balancer is easy.
finding a guy that knows how to use it is difficult.
and lastly, finding a guy that will take the time to do it right is impossible !!
