Default Shortblock build day II

Update to this thread from yesterday: 388 build
Yes, clearancing is necessary. Rather time consumming but not difficult. I found a little piece of stiff wire that was exactly .050" and bent it into a handy little gauge. Grind a little and check, grind a little and check, while sitting on a stool with a cold one close by and listening to the race. Life could be worse.... Go Tony! I bought a new die grinder this morning at Northern Tool. It's working pretty well, I killed the last operable one I had at home yesterday. This one was $50 including an extended 3 year warranty. When this project's done, I'll swap it out with the one from work. Using it at work, I guarantee you I'll get at least a couple of new ones in the next 3 years!

Have I mentioned how much I hate spiral locks? Especially when 4 per piston are required? Enough of this, back to work!

Pics are coming fellas, I promise. Our buddy CVronw had a camera for sale. I told him if it was idiot-proof, I'd buy it. I'm taking him at his word here. You know what they say, make something idiot-proof, and they'll build a better idiot.....

I think I'm on beer break for the duration tonight. I was out there until 1:00 am last night. Tomorrow's Monday though, duty calls.

No, that looks modern compared to the Brownie I own. Really. I bought a house back in the early '80s and there were a number of antiques left in it. They had no apparent value to the heirs, so they left them. The Brownie ain't worth too much but there were a few nice pieces left that are. My favorite is a 1949 Stromberg-Carlson floor model radio in perfect operating condition. It plays 78 records and also has shortwave. All of the original paperwork was inside along with a stack of pristine 78 records. One of the best was an original recording of "I'm My Own Grandpa".

I remember when short wave radio was a hobby though.....God I am gettin up there

Oh you've got to hear it, any version. It's funnier than hell. I love all of those folks you mentioned. Please add my favorite from those days to that list.... Duke Ellington.
