What does it sound like

when a u-joint is going? when i start in first, it sounds like i'm draging cans behind my rear drivers axle. could it be the u-joint or is it something else?

You'll get a clunk when you take slack out of the drivetrain on and off the throttle.

That my friend, is exactly what a half-shaft u-joint sounds like, and/or a clunking sound when you turn a corner.

Not necessarily .... get some spicers (do a search on the forum for the correct numbers). They should be around $14-15 each. DIY ... the job is not difficult at all. Good luck.
