Default Some quick after engine rebuild questions

Well i have the rebuilt engine back in, and got her fired up sunday. Took about an hour to get the timming decent enough to roll over and my battery kept dying. But neverless it runs. I did a 10 min 2000 RPM break in period and got everything to operating temps. No leaks and everything seems to work fine. Took it down the road and back with open headers, no o2 sensor, decent timming, not known fuel pressure, and it made it. Anways some quick questions
- About where should my oil pressure be? for the first 50 miles i am running 10W30, then switching over to 10W40. My oil pressure while driving is about 60-80 psi. When idle, it runs about 55-65 psi. Before i pulled the eninge, it was a constant 80. I kept an eye on it and it didnt fall too low. but is this normal and how low is too low?
- What water or oil temp is considerd overheating? I just wanna make sure i notice the temps getting too hot before it boils over.

well ill let ya guys know what i did and when i get it running fully, ill get some 1/4 mile times and HP. 212 comp cam, ported and polished heads 3 angle valve job, forged pistions, 2400 stall, headers, soon to be new 2.5" free flowing exhaust, still need a new chip or computer work done, all the ports were matched. bunch of minor stuff. no emsissions.
-thanks-

Oil pressure will always vary with different engines.....bearing clearances, diferent pumps, Ect......your pressure sounds good....too low is probably much lower than you would think......many reputable performance engine builders (even on street engines that are intended to last over 100thou miles) will set bearing clearances a bit wide to get around 20 to 25 LBS @ idle for the reduced friction(more HP)....and even with it that low, there is no decrease in engine life or component wear......after your rings are perfectly sealed and everything is completely broken in, you might consider switching to some synthetic oil to bring the pressure down a bit and give you much better film strength over the mineral based oil.......as far as safe engine temps, IMO, you don't want to see over 230ish for a extended period of time.......between 160 and 185 is considered pretty normal.......mabe a bit higher if you stay with the mineral based oil because of sluge build up if the engine stays too cool....good luck with it
