Default Soaked my opti

Sunday I took the 92 out for a spin. After parking at home, I came out to antifreeze everywhere. The top hose to the thermostat blew off. Drenched the engine compartment. I cleaned up the mess, retightened the clamp, cleaned the engine compartment, and thot I was ready to go. Last night I took the car out for a run in the 80 degree weather, and it missed badly. It has been running like a top up to that point. I suspect the opti got soaked with antifreeze. Are there any remedies to this problem? I know how messy antifreeze is, would I be better off to soak the opti with fresh water and let it dry out? It did seem that driving it, letting the motor get up to operating temp, helped the missing, but it is still there intermittently. What about using a heat gun to dry it out? I sure would hate to have to spend the money and time on a new opti at this time. Suggestions?

There have been folks who got away with using hairdryers, etc. to dry out their opti...unfortunately they only soaked theirs with water while washing the engine compartment...anti-freeze, however, is a killer for opti's...sorry...you may as well try drying it and maybe you will get real lucky...

Right after I got my 92 (6years ago) I washed the engine and found out the hard way that "cleanliness is next to trouble" when it comes to an OPTI. However, I let mine dry out for a couple of days and it ran fine for the next 5 years. I replaced the OPTI last year only as a precaution and not because I had to.

I've read many stories about OPTIs getting wet and usually they end up getting replaced. My advice is give it a couple days to dry ... especially if it's warm in your area ... it may return to normal.

Blown radiator hose got me a few years ago. Opti death.
I thinks its time you get yours replaced instead of trying to save it.
