Default Pacesetter headers

I know I'm gonna get holy h#ll from a lot of you but ....I am in the process of installing a set of shortie pacesetters. Has anyone installed these on their LT4 or LT1 for that matter? I seem to have a clearance problem with the air box on pass side and am trying to see if its something unique to the LT4 only. It MAY BE since the trans is out and the motor is supported that the angle at which its sitting might be a factor causing this. If it ends up being an issue...long tubes are going to replace it. No more screwin around. I'm dropping quite a bit of money all at once and couldn't afford the long tubes at the time but I may have no choice.. Thx

Hi DB

Yes I actually had a clearance problem as well...

I installed the header I was actually able to get it in through the top on the passenger side...

I used a magic marker and actually cut out the area around the header, and used sheet metal and pop riveted the relief around the header.

also I did not modify the temperture sensor as they suggest. I also replacced the "wossey" bolts they have for the collectors and used full size bolts. Also I used the lock- down type header bolts and they have held up very well.

also on the A.I. R. fittings I had to shim the flanges with washers as they would not completely tighten down as they should to seal off any potential exhaust leaks.

I was also able to drop the driver side in from the top as well.

If you have any questions feel free to email me...

Thanks Mo. Great info...unfortunately it's what I was expecting They should not advertise them if they are not a direct bolt in as stated. Even the tech guys don't know what they are talking about at pacesetter!! After all that, were you happy with them and if you had to do it again.....would you? I'm thinking of fed exing a pair of long tubes and washing my hands of it if they aren't worthwhile. Thanks again.

If I had the choice I would go with long tubes...

The plus of having these pipes ( pacesetters), it is REALLY easy to change the plugs.... I'm probably going tostick with them til they ear out and lookinto Hooker or another company....

I agreewith most folks that the fitment and over all quality s very substandard.... The welds etc really are not good.

I did the the header swap as with the AFR heads I could not use my stock exhaust manifolds... So I needed something "quick~

Hope this helps!

For any of you CA guys or others for that matter, I just got a set of LTs so I will try to RMA these but doubt they will take them. I bought them and wanted better heat protection than what comes on them so I bought some 1200+ black ceramic header paint and sealed them nicely. A real bummer that I won't be able to use these. If anyone is interested in them, drop me a line and I won't try to get a refund....I'll just sell em a bit cheaper than I paid WITH the extra paint sealant. As long as you don't have a 96 LT4, you probably won't have any problems.
