What is this part from???
I have an 89 coupe with 52,000 miles. Last nite I removed the spare tire and carrier. Looks like this was the first time the spare was ever checked/removed, its the first time I ever looked at it, but I've only had the car 2 years. As I lowered the carrier and spare down I found some kind of spring sitting inside of the spare tire rim. It is shaped like a V with a loop on each end. One leg of the V is shorter that the other. I can't post a pic sorry. Any ideas as to where it came from or where it belongs???
My '88 has the jack under/behind the drivers seat??
My 89 is a convertible. There are no storage cubbies behind the seats. So the jack goes inside the rim of the spare tire, held in place with jackless Jack's mystery spring.
I don't know where the jack goes in an 89 coupe. Don't coupes have storage bins I don't have? Is the jack in there?

I guess I'll have to look for my jack today....If I can't find it inside the car, then I guess I am jack-less. I just wanted to make sure that spring didn't fall off of something above the spare tire. All the "Jack" comments are amusing also. Thanks to everyone for the help, and the jokes too!

Look closer, that is your jack handle/lug nut wrench behind your seat....I have an 88 also. The jack itself should be in a bag in the spare tire. If you guys haven't added air to the spare in a few years it is most likely pretty flat. With a flat tire or no jack you will be stranded if you need it.
I guess it was time I poped my cherry here. Here's a picture of the jack storage on my 89 coupe.I just cleaned under there 2 months ago..sure gets dirty quick.Dont mind the dirt.
