What needs to be covered up when cleaning a 1993 Corvette engine?

Optispark, which is the distributor under the waterpump. Do not get it wet!

Ok, another question...
What's the best way to do this? (as in cover it up?)

They're right about the Optispark. I found that out the hard way. About $800 for the tow and new optispark install.

I use Simple Green and a spray bottle of water and stay away from the Optispark. It takes some time the first time if the engine is really dirty. After that the ongoing touch-up is very easy.

The engine. Like everyone said, simple green and Pledge and maybe a damp cloth.

I don't cover anything, spray it down with degreaser and hose the crap out of it. If it misses when I start it due to water in the opti I let it sit for a while and it's ok. My driveway has an incline and that might be why I haven't had a problem but, I have never had a problem washing the engine.
