Default Oil temp. Reading

Does the analog gauge and the digital readout get it's info from the same sensor. Usually, the digital reads around 200, and the analog reads barely 100. I know 200 is the correct temp.

There is only one oil temp. sensor I know located above the oil filter. Mine runs at about 180ish and w.temp about the same (scanner info from the ecm). The analog gauge is nowhere close which leads me to believe the analogs in these cars are lazy and not very accuarate. Your digital is probably is the info that the ecm "sees".

You can try replacing the oil temp sensor first. "Lazy guage" a common C4 problem. They run about $10 or less at AutoZone, NAPA, and other parts stores.
