roller rocker issues

any ideas on how to get these to tighten or what might be wrong?
bad news...dial indicator on end of pushrod will check cam lobe, crude eyeball comparo to pushrod heights of adjacent cylinder may show lifter problem.some roller rockers have an ''offset'' trunnion (pivot shaft) that can be installed upside down.
if you don't have the set screws in your polylocks, what stops them from loosening up?

Guess what? i ran the engine with the valve cover off. this happened to be no. 5 intake. . . the spring was not pushing down at all, but the push rod was coming up...anyway, i flipped the bearing thing with the hole in it for the screw to pass thru (as you suggested)_ and tightened it back down. wallah, you were right! now it does go up and down and the noise is gone! i will still get it all checked out further, but for now, it looks hopeful. these rr (installed by previous owner) are likely some chinese crap, they are sort of pale metallic blue in color) just have the set screw, unlike my compcams on the vette, they have no bolt set that one tightens with an allen wrench.
thanks guys! learned something new...
The summits look similar but come with polylocks. And I hear they are a big name repackage. I have heard of good results with them.
Glad to hear that is just the problem. I thought you might have what I have, which was a dead lifter. Just for an FYI, I checked it by runing the motor, checking the adjustment of them after they were pumped up, and I could depress #5 exh BY HAND! While the rest were rock hard. So I am glad to hear it isn't that. Just that I would add that in this thread for FYI.

good to hear from ya! Yes, the previous owner im sure didnt get the best on this car! Ive had to replace everything on it. It still may not be right, but switching it DID help.
ive had NOTHING BUT car problems lately. Took the tranny out of the vette today, dropped the exhaust, etc. Whole job took maybe 15 minutes...and then we dropped the engine in within less than 10 minutes. Now if only the tranny had not suddenly become an issue...
