Default Changing to roller rockers

1985 stock L98. Previous owner changed out 1.5 rockers to 1.6 stock-like rockers (they are not rollers or even roller tip). I've always ran Harlan Sharp aluminum roller rockers on my latemodel racing engines with no failures. 2 questions....will changing to a 1.6 roller rocker give a little more power? and can I just swap out the rockers, adjust the rockers correctly, and not have to make any other modifications? Thanks.

Given the wimpy specs on the stock cam money would be better spent on a cam change.
Plenty of choices that wiill give better results without the rocker change which you can always do latter.

You will get a little more power with 1.6 RR. I used 1.5 on the exhaust and 1.6 on the intake. No installation problems. Dyno reports on the Forum have indicted about 8 HP (+) gain depending on engine and other options.

I intend also to change to 1.6RR in my 84 L98. Will the gain be more noticable when the CFI intake manifoldhas been ported and when 1 5/8 headers are mounted?

a. "....will changing to a 1.6 roller rocker give a little more power?" - Yes. You should pick up a couple ft.lbs. of torque from reduced friction. If the stamped-steel piece you are running is experiencing any flexion under load, the roller rocker will eliminate this as well.

b. "and can I just swap out the rockers...and not have to make any other modifications?" - If you are *already* at 1.6 (and valvetrain geometry is already correct, etc.) then you won't have to worry about springs, pushrod length adjustment, etc.
