Anyone use them? Can you use the stock pushrod length with them or do you need longer if you have to use a guideplate?

I was told they'd work with stock rods - did you have to use pushrod guideplates?

Mine were a direct stock replacement. It's the only lifter that TPiS even uses to my knowledge.

1989-1991 Corvettes with aluminum heads and all LT1s need Guide Plates when using roller rockers. You must also remove the "drip tabs" from the stock valve covers.

...so i'd have to add the thickness of the guideplates to the length of the stock pushrod to get the length of the pushrod i need?

the engine is using sportsman II heads but ive already found out that they are the same height as a stock head

The pushrod slides through the guideplate to operate, it's why you need hardened pushrods when running guideplates.
Here are the plates

But I would call Jim or Chris and double check the correct length for those heads to be sure. If there are any other little odds and ends I'm forgetting they wont. They only work on TPI, LT1, LT4, LS1, LS2 and LS6 motors, so this is their bread and butter.

No, guide plates have nothing to do with the correct length pushrod.

Still doesn't matter. The guide plate just keeps the pushrod from moving, it doesn't interact with the geometry of the rocker, pushrod, lifter setup at all.
PS I hope you stepped up to the 7/16 studs, they are the same price.

I don't even know what studs they are, they're probably 3/8 screw-in's

The rocker mounts to the stud.
