My 89 vert Skips, and its starting to get on my nerves. Everytime I drive over a bump while in a slight turn the car skips to the outside of the turn. Do all vetts do this? Or is there something I can do, or have done to fix it?
The shocks are 6 month old KYB's. Before the KYB's the skip was worse so I know I've got to be getting closer to the problem.
The tires are 1 month old Summitomos (sp?) all around with 30lbs of pressure. No real change after putting on new tires. My other ones were shot so I thought 4 new ones would help dampen the skip, but all they did was give it nicer and quieter ride on smooth roads.
As long as its a fairly decent road the car rides great, very smooth and comfortable with a nice stiff feel. But as soon as you hit the bumps, "fugetaboutit", its all over the place.
So what other kinds of things should I look at? Would changing the bushings to "poly" help, or just a waist of money? I"m open to suggestions.

My own '96 does the same thing, even with new Konis.
I believe it is the result of having very high spring rates and not much suspension travel. In other words; typical C4 behavior.
You learn to live with it.
I try to hit all bumps going straight. Even if they are on a curve I try to straighten out for them. I find I have a better chance of knowing where I'm going to end up this way.
For the record my pick up truck skips and bounces much worse on the same bumps.
Dont feel too bad. My 95 LT1 with Konis adjustables skips over bumps. My 02 ZO6 also skips slightly over some bumps, although less than my C4. Even the new C6Z06 skips over bumps according to the car rags.
i have the same setup summi tires kyb shocks (rear only so far) and z 51 and love that feeling i do believe i've actually gotten the back end in the air on a certain bump near a friends house
hit my head on the roof too

Both of our Vettes have the Z51 package and I don't think they skip that bad, but you will feel the bumps and the rocks and the cracks and the little ants when you run over them.
But that is what we really like about them, you can feel the road that you're on.
The C4 has one of the most advanced suspensions that was out at the time... its made to ride like a buckboard. I have an 89 w/Z51 and crappy monroe's and mine does it all the time... just have to judge your speed and all when going over known rough/bumpy places and slow down a bit...
Think of riding a gocart...you feel every bump and any time it hits a bump it skips...
Me to. My tires are good and front end aligned great. When I hit a bump in a turn, skip to the outside I go. But if there is no bumps, she can really corner.
When I asked about that a few years ago I was told that you bought a car with race car suspension. We just drive it on the streets. Guess I won’t change my shocks after all.
