It is a classic, let alone the resale value.
The 84 is a great car, but if memory serves GM literally made more 84 corvettes than any other year. I don't see collector value for a very very long time; have some fun, run the LSX motor!!

These early 80's cars will be the hot item I assure you esspecially with the original engines. So if you are going to change the engine trans etc, please keep the old parts on the shelf for future resale value.

You will kick yourself just like you did when you said a few years ago that "I could of bought that musclecar for $4500 and now its worth $60,000.

I could have bought that early 80's vette for $3000-$6000 and in 2016 it is worth $75,000.
I know what you are saying, but the 84 vette is so far from that, it ain't even funny.

For a car to be popular on the collectors market, it has to be fully accepted by the enthusiast market.

You see, the 84 was accepted by the Corvette family... but not the overall enthusiast family.

a 1987 Callaway is one of those cars... a 1990 ZR1 is another... a 96 GS for sure, but a run of the mill 84? nope.

As for laws restricting older cars, what laws are you taking about? Many states have tried to legislate them off the roads, but are beaten down by SEMA and antique car clubs. They are not relevent to the discussion of emissions... most are really not driven enough to matter.

If California can't make them meet emissions standards, no one can - or will. The industry is just too damned large to destroy.

I appreciate your desire to keep your car original... and in 30 or so years, you can be the first to rub it in our noses... but for now, I am all for having fun... just think, that makes yours one more of those originals.

As an aside, j3studio has one of the most original C4s around. A 1985. All original. As perfect as perfect will allow. As of this writing, NCRS is still working on fine tuning what constitutes a 100 point C4... and they are years away from getting to the latter C4s...

In short, the C4 is much like a boat... a hole in the road that accepts money.

"K&N,accel wires,bosch+4 plugs,ADS chip, pulleys, air pump elim. pulley, random cat, walker rear y-pipe, eliminator mufflers, throttle performance swith, shift kit, Next mods: ZR1 rims, paint car red, zz383 superram, headers, new blue tint targa."

Seems like you're saying one thing but doing another. In the end... its all about enjoying your car... however that may be. So why don't you lay off and mind your business? This LS1 stuff is clearly too much for you. (BTW - The throttle performance switch and ADS chips are a waste of time... ask anyone who's been around longer than 5 minutes.)

Phobos,

If you've ever had a LS1 you know how good the engine package is. I wish you the best of luck on your conversion if you do it. I'm very close to finishing mine and have no regrets about the decision so far. My Convertible had been in an accident and had quite a few things not right about the L98 engine that was in it. I decided to do what it took for me to enjoy the car.
If you need any help solving a conversion issue be sure to PM me. I'm happy to help.
