The pulley is pressed on and requires a special puller made for gm power steering pumps

Better search ebay or the C4 parts section because GM will charge you a a$$ load for that. Goodluck with it.

Any GM product I have worked on from 75-98 used the same puller. I assume they are all the same.

Its too hard to do without the tool, like the man said. I bought my pump at the parts store {merle's] in Tucson, and they switched the pulley for free,at their machine shop. Call yours and ask them if they have this service,if not try Pep Boys, they will do it too!

It's a breeze with the correct puller.

You need to have the puller. Personally, if you don't want to pull the pump, drive it to a machine shop or wherever, drop the serpentine in the parking lot and ask them to let you borrow the tool, or have them pull it. Then put the new pulley on, remount the serp, and you're off!

Replaced P/S pulley last week during water pump change (long story).

You need a puller/installer kit.

I borrowed one from Autozone (put down 40 bucks and get it back when you return the kit).

With the proper puller and installer I removed my old pulley and put my new one on in a total of 10 minutes.
