Primary cooling fan amp draw?
"86 A4 L98. Anyone know how many amps the primary cooling fan should draw? Burned off the fusible link and I kinda suspect that the fan motor has gone south. Everything else checks out ok.Lookin' thru the HELMS but don't see anything about resistance.

I think the fuse is a 3 AMP. But if you look at the trouble shooting in the FSM Electrical book it say to use a 20 AMP fused jumper for test.
Look in your fuse panel, I can't imagine the fan drawing more than the fuse would allow.

After testing the amp draw on the fan motor I found that it is drawing upwards of 45 amps. Guess it's time for a new fan motor.I can't believe the darn thing only last 20 years!
