The hypertech chip may have also richened up the mixture. If the car was lean before, the richer mix may also be helping the temp issue

I'm using the set-up of JET Performance, 180 t-stat and 185 to 200 fan switch. My '90 never runs above 200 and the fan even shuts off at 185!

This makes me want to measure the amps on those fans to see how much hp they draw on the alternator. Maybe then people will be convinced that these fan switches are doing more harm than good. What is the fuse rating?

First I don't think they draw HP...I think its amps they draw.
And even if it did rob the entire system of hp, which keeping the car cooler probably adds hp, then so be it. I am glad to see my temp gauge go down to 185...not 235
You may be right though about the mixture, must have cured something ... I'm happy and if your reading this and have problems trying to keep a c-4 cool, try all the things they say....if it still don't work...change the chip...worked great for me.
