Default '96 LT-1 ODB11 codes to decipher

I was having trouble with my A/C control, intermittent control so followed the advice (thank you) from one of the forum threads to reset the controller by removing the fuses for the A/C system for a few minutes. It didn't really help and I now have a new issue to deal with.

Now the SES Service Soon light is lit constantly, so I went by my friendly Autozone and they read the two stored codes:

P1 641, Manufacturer Control. Aux Inputs Aux Outputs

P1 642, Manufacturer Control. Aux Inputs Aux Outputs

The Autozone "tech" said he couldn't reset the codes, it might cause problems and they aren't trained or allowed to do that.

So, I'm sure this SES code is from the A/C control resetting process, is there a way to remove this trapped code and reset the SES light to the off state? Is this a dealer only thing or can I can a code reader and reset it myself without too much risk?

Thanks for your help guys.

You can get a code reader of your own to reset them, or if you think it's just an intermittent problem you could just disconnect the battery for about 15 seconds and they should be cleared.

Thanks Zix.

I removed the negative lead to the battery for about a minute, reconnected, started engine, same indication.

Maybe the code reader/killer is in order?
