Default Track day

Went to the track yesterday and met some guys from the Canadian section. They were a great bunch and it was nice to meet someone from this site in person. Well after a long winter of all my work I was dissapointed with my time. Best run was a 12.82, it sure doesn't launch to good with an extra 100 ponies. I will have to work on that as I am sure it has a 12.4 or 12.5 in her. I only have D36's in her so after all the money spent after the winter I don't think drag radials are in the books. Also a new C6 went and best run was 12.7 at 114, not bad eh.

Fred, Dont be so hard on yourself! Your car ran good when you think about it. Last time at the track you ran a 13.75@101, and now you ran a 12.82@111. You knocked off 1 sec, and gained 10 mph in the traps with a head/cam swap. You mentioned your tune prob still inst dead on. Get her to the dyno, then send the figures to the whomever does your chip, and you will prob see another 20rwhp. Let's hope anyways. With that extra power if its there in the tune will get you down into the 12.60's range with those 285 street tires that you have. You never know I might sell you my tires, they only have around 900 k's on them, and if you look are still basically new. Or at least borrow them!

You have to remember you are still running the stock stall converter. I have seen many head/cam LT-1, and I think you did good. You should be proud, as you did the install. You didnt pay someone big bucks too do it! I know you wanted some 12.50's. It will come, It just take times. I hear Grand Bend is a quicker track, even for cars like ours.

BTW, My best time of the day was a 13.83@100.40 with a horrible 2.10 60 foot on Drag Radials. Yeah I know 2.10 on Nitto's. I suck! My car is stock head/cam/intake. But I did have good news. If I would of ran a 2.00 which I usually can all day long with those tires, that would of put me into the 13.6x, and would of been a personally best. I will kick some *** next time. Maybe time for some mods!

All in all Fred. The main thing was making it home in one piece, without breaking anything major. I was really suprised on how well your 285's hooked. Not2Bad!! For me a good day, Is not calling CAA!

At least your car ran quicker with you in it, then when your son was driving the beast! It is quite evident with a better tire, and a 60 foot around a 1.70. You would be sailing to the 12.3 range.

Don't sweat it. You just need stickier tires. Do you have a stall fred?

As for the C6. 2 Weeks ago at Atco i ran a C6 owner who only had TM turned off in his ECU. Pulled a 12.2. Was very impressed

Nice going...

...and a 60 foot around a 1.70. You would be sailing to the 12.3 range.
Though I would not try and get into that range with the D36. You are likely safe in the 1.8x range. A 2,000-2,400rpm TC should get you there nicely.
