Lots of people on here use them, and most of them who have used them like them.

The ECSTA 712 is a good all around tire, fair all weather performance, good dry traction, moderate tread life.

The ECSTA MX is a good summer tire, good dry performance poor wet weather, non existent snow performance, lower tread life than the 712.

The ECSTA ASX is a fair summer tire, outstanding wet performance, moderate dry traction, significantly improved read life

I believe they have even come up with yet another line for which I don't know anything about. I've had both the ASX's and the 712's. The ASX's certainly don't stick as good as the 712's under extreme conditions (read autocross) but they are really good for a daily driver because of the good wet weather performance and long tread life.

Had a set of 712's. Got about 35K miles, plus about 120 passes at the track. Pretty good tires all around, not great. Very good value for the $$.

What is the price on them? How bad is poor wet weather performance? Do they make them for 18" rims?

I ordered some Kuhmo SPT's they arrive tomorrow. I had to give up on any others because there is no supply???? 275/40/17 all around.

I know lots of people in the club that have run the MX's and no complaints.

A quick search of C4 tech yielded 17 results:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=kumho

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=kumho

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=kumho

etc...

While the regular search may not work all the time, the advanced search will work every time.

Mouse over the search button, an click "Advanced Search."
In the text field type, "kumho"
Scroll down and check the box to search in current threads and in the archives.
Select C4 tech and click search.

That should give you more than enough reading on Kumho tires and C4's.

I am running the ASX and really like them. Can't beat them for the cost.

I had a set of the MXs on my car and loved them. They had a predictability to them that always offered a reassuring feel when playing hard. Also a few times when I was teetering on the ragged edge, recovery was great and once again provided a very sure feel. If they were capable of providing the forward traction my car now requires, I'd still be running them. But no pure street tire will now fit that bill.

MX here. A decent tire, especially considering the cost.
I'll probably be going to BFG's the next go-around, but the Kumho's are a great value.

I too had the Ecsta tires and was very happy. I still have them in fact on a set of chrome 16" American Racing wheels sitting in my garage. Great tire for the price.

I am on my second set of MX's

Love em! They stick!

They are good in the rain until you get down to the last 3000 or so miles.

I get around 15000 miles per set, but that is hard driving

Have the 712's on my '85 and when they go out I will buy another set. Can't beat them for the price.

I'm running the ECSTA's. Only problem I've seen with them is they will flat spot and vibrate a little when cold. After about 5 miles they're very smooth.

Running 712s on mine for the last year or so (~7,000 miles). Good dry and wet road manners and a whole lot quieter that the Bridgestone 730s they replaced. I'd buy them again.

Ditto on that. I also use them autocrossing. They hold up well for a street tire. With 30lbs of air they don't roll over on the sidewall.

Default I Used MX"s

I autocross and used a set of MX's for a year and a 1/2 on my 88 stock vette, although I'm in the Northeast where the season is short - April to October. The MX's lasted longer than expected. They grip nicely and run OK in rain, (but I don't take the car out in bad weather unless it's to race).

I'm using R compound Nitto's now and if I go back to street tires I'll buy MX"s again.
