Default Just Really Dissappointed

This hasn't been a good start to the Vette year so far.
I get my baby out of storage and after about 5 short trips in town it developes a fuel injector problem that I am blaming on fuel stabilizer. With some help here on the forum I was led to "fiveo" for some injectors at a great price.
So that problem is solved and the is back on my face and I think my troubles are behind me.
About two outings after the fuel injectors are in I am on the expressway and I lose overdrive and drive in the tranny. Now the transmission has to be rebuilt.
So between the injector problem and the transmission I have got about 4 grand tied up.
If I didn't take care of the car I would expect this sort of thing to happen. Although I don't do my own work I do make sure it gets in for the proper maintenence. And yes I do trust my mechanic. He has been working on my cars since 1991 with no problems.
This transmission only has 95,000 miles on it. It that about right for the life of these tranny's? I thought these things were "bullit proof"?
I'm thinking now it might be time to move on and get something newer. I have dumped alot of money into this car and it seems everytime I get something fixed and I'm good to go something else breaks. I realize the Vette's 16 years old but when is enough enough?
Well sorry about the rant...What would you guys do?

Sorry, I feel your pain. 95K on a tranny really isn't that bad....meaning someone got their $$$ worth. Something newer....I've got a 2003 Ford Focus 13k on it...1 new cam, back in again 2. entire new motor. 3. back in again...rebuilt tranny.Oh yeah, in between a new 02 sensor.
NOT trying to be nasty, but 95K on a high powered sports car...injectors and a tranny ain't to bad.

I would get the tranny rebuilt and enjoy the car, you know what you've got,if you get rid of it and get a different one you never know what kind af problens you could end up with. Just my opinion

I feel your pain. Last year I built a new 383 motor and lost the trans on the test ride. Then I drained the oil and found out the motor popped its groin. I had to rebuild both. I am lucky, I can build my own trans. Motor was expensive though.

Parts breaking doesn't make it expensive, paying someone else to fix it does.

Injectors are a $150 repair. Dunno about the trans, but it looks like you'll just have to suck it up.

I'd fix it.

I agree. My trans was an easy kill. $300 in parts and a converter refresh was all I needed. Labor is definately a killer.

Not trying to make you feel bad, flyin, but what happens if you buy a "newer" Vette and something bad goes out on it? Or a newer _____ fill in the blank (but don't put in Mustang ). It can happen.

And as already said here, 95K miles on a trans and injectors can't be considered an absolute, premature failure of the parts. Doesn't sound much of a help, but I hear what you're saying.

yeah I will have to suck it up and the Vette's going in Monday morning to start the rebuild of the trans. I should have it back by Wednesday.. at least thats what they are tellin' me. I guess it is just that this all happened in such a short period of time.
But one thing I have learned over the years is that it doesn't matter what you have someone always has something bigger and badder or in this case someone will always have a sadder story than yours.
Any how thanx for the feedback.

Hey Gary, we're all in your corner and feel bad about it. Don't worry about rantin'...we all do it once in a while when it seems like the Car God is conspiring against us.

Gary,
We have all felt that heartache and major dissappointment when our cars have components and parts fail. Just try to remember how it feels when she is running well, the top is off, and that country road is miles ahead of ya. Hang tough... if you sell it now, you may really regret it later. Good luck!
