Default Stat Temps for C4ers???

What is everyone running for thermostats on stock chips?? Know the stock for my 89 is 195 but wonder if I can slip in a 180 without effecting the closed and open looping... Anyone running one with stories good or bad?? :mad

Your 89 goes open loop at 100 F. A 180 stat won't affect engine operation, but the radiator cannot maintain 180 in summer temperatures and you should see the same operating temps as you do with your 195 stat.

I have a 170. The water temp is always 169-175 and the oil 180ish. They used to both be 185, but would get up around 215 in hot weather with air conditioner on. That never happens anymore. My car really started staying much cooler after I took out the radiator and cleaned the front.

I hope my temps are hot enough now!
