has anyone dyed their carpet and if so, what did you use? if so, where did you make purchase and possible brand name?
i have read something about people using a spray of some sorts but. i would feel that it would not get down deep enough to cover all the way down. any suggestions. looking to dye a small piece from beigh to torch red. a thanks!

That should be doable, you can always go darker. Check some auto parts stores, some of them carries such things. You should be able to get it in home improvement stores too, I'll bet. It's spray on, it's pretty easy to use. I darkened a carpet in a bedroom that was badly stained.

thanks for the reply....however, the spray on will probably not go all the way down to the base of the carpet section.
if one should move the fibers aside, there stands the possiblilty of the original color being seen.....i wonder if i have to soak 'em or similar?

I just finished a recarpet on a 90 Vert today. I picked up the carpet from Wilcox in Jeffersonville, IN. They had the best deal. It's ACC Mass Back carpet. I would recarpet vs trying to die. My buddy who helped do the carpet install job owns a Dr Vinyl franchise and dies seats & carpets everday, but he says it does not last. It more for that touch up or to cover some bad stain. He say's recarpet instead if you plan to keep this car.
We did a tear our last weekend, and complete install today including door sills.
Just my $.02 .... It was also a pretty fun project. Good luck whatever you do.

I know you can buy new sill carpet pcs in whatever color you want.- I think they are about $80 from Ecklers. 1 Can of 3m Spray Glue p/n 08088 & you are golden.
If your trying to go cheap, buy a can of Dupont carpet dye from any parts store, and spray the S*^t out of it.
I did mine, but it was balck to black, so I dont know how far it soaks down, but i do know it works even if it is temporay, I paid like $20, vers what ever it is to do all new, like$800+ I think.
