Default New L98 Intake Design !!!!

Ok, slightly misleading yes, but I have spent the past 2 months designing and fabricating my own cold air intake design. Totally built with 3.5" mandrel bent aluminum tubing ( polished for appearance ). Runs through the plastic radiator shroud through the side ( had to cut a perfect 3.5 circle with a tile router, K&N cone filter in the front radiator housing, red silicone couplers, LT1 elbow ( ceramic coated ) with a MAT already relocated ( need to hook it up as it is disconnected in the pix ). Throttle response is improved and top end is improved from seat of the pants. I have a big mouth air dam forcing cold air into the compartment ahead and through the radiator with amplifies the effect.

Some will undoubtedly question the design. Well, I did it as much to be different as to the overall effect. You cant have a smooth 3.5 tube above the radiator due to hood clearance and the cold airs on the market still use the "accordian" black rubber tube which causes turbulance. OK, my design may not work any better than the others, but it is different and in my opinion LOOKS 10x better asthetically.

Hope this inspires others to be creative and try fabricating.
-Bill

Nice work.... better than a lot of the DIY jobs I've seen ( and I've seen a few!).

Not bad.. I like it.

I'll have to see if there's a way to get it to work on an LT1.

Congratulations on that. It looks real good and way better than the stock setup, may even provide cooler intake temps. Its always good to see creativity in C4 owners. Where did you puck up some of the tubing?

Very nice work....would definately like to do something like that for the 87's, but would require additional work for electronics... but the concept is great. Where did you get the TB to pipe rubber attachements

whether it works or not, it looks great.

for anybody lookin to play, i made a much less preety set-up for my lt1 roaddie using ferd pick-up(don't hit me) aluminum driveshaft tubing (bent ferd driveshafts are really cheap and plentiful at j-y supply) and rubber elbow/connectors from homie depot (those are black, not red)...left mine a bit ''ugly'' cause its a daily driver and to give it a ''maybe its oem'' look, after seeing hairs, maybe i'll pull it off and polish it when things get caught up

That's beautiful. You could easily sell those for $250.

Now everyone is gonna ask you if you have a supercharger.

Thanks, bought the tubing in various lengths in a kit on ebay. Then cut them to fit.

That is looking under the front bumper through the big mouth air dam and into the radiator shroud where you can see the K&N filter. Tons of fresh cool air SLAMMED into the filter.

Thanks, unfortunately it will only work with Speed Density and for those that have removed their air conditioning as it uses the area in front of the radiator and would not fit wiht the evaporator there.

Yeah, I already thought people might think I had a Vortec or something
