The front of my 92 coupe hood does not line up with the front bumper. One side is off by 1/4 in. Although the body is in excellent condition and has never had any serious damage, I'm wondering if the bumper was replaced at some time(I'm the second owner).
My question is how difficult is it to align the hood so that it will match up with the bumper? Has anyone had experience with this problem?
You can adjust the front of hood while it's closed by removing one of the headlights. This allows you to reach the hinge bolts inside. Mine is off too.
In what direction?Too high or low or to close or far from the bumper. My bracket rivet had egged and it needed a new one.If it is too low that may be the trouble. It can be shimmed to raise it.If it is one side is too close to the bumper you can loosen the bolts and have someone lift that side and re tighten them to get the proper gap.All done with the hood open.I tied a rope to the bumper pin and then to the garage rafter to hold it up as I changed the bracket.
If you are standing in front looking directly at the bumper and hood it would appear that the hood is slightly wider than the bumper by 1/4 in. on the drivers side. The passenger side lines up nicely. I thought maybe the bumper might have been replaced with an after market part from China? Thanks, Ed

This sounds like the solution I was looking for.
Can you do both hinges by removing just one headlight? Thanks, Ed
You do not need to remove anything to align it follow my instructions and make it easy on yourself. If you raise the hood and loosen the 2 bolts on the hood while a helper lifts it you will open the gap between the hood and bumper on that side.Be careful that the latch pins do not bind when you shut it.
