lifter tick-sometimes

lifter tick-sometimes
every once in awhile,mostly after engine gets hot, a lifter is making a noise. can these be adjusted on a 96 LT-1? comes and goes??? :rolleyes:

What kind of oil do you use? Lifters aren't adjustable. The rockers are but in a hydraulic valvetrain such as ours once the rockers are set they don't require a whole lot of intervention, if any. If its true lifter ticking there could be a number of reasons why. You could have a scored lifter bore or the oil may be to thin to name a couple. If you had cam damage where the cam is slapping the lifter because the lobe is prematurely wearing away I would think you could here that all the time. The fact that you here it when the car heats up leads me back to the oil. Are you running a thin grade? Consider a thicker grade?... like say Mobil1 15W-50?
