Default intake water leak

man what a pain just to nip up a few loose intake bolts :mad

i've had an annoying coolant smell lately at shutdown and discovered a small pooling of green fluid along my rightside head/intake area.

after tightening the heck out of my Throttle Body Bypass tubing (thinking that it was the likely source) with no results, i decided to work my way toward the intake (Torx45) bolts.

 interesting enough, but not what i felt like pursuing today.

yellow arrow indicates problem area
red points to an 'interesting' bolt, on the right side, that must be accessed from the left side  kind of a pain in the ****

now waiting for Runner gasket set...

anyone know if it's common for the L98 to develop this leak? (60,000miles)

Yes it is common and has happened to my 87 several times. The factory gaskets last about 1 1/2 yrs if you drive it every day like I do. When the warranty ran out and I had to pay for the gaskets, I installed Fel-Pro teflon coated gaskets about 6 yrs ago and no more leaks. The factory gaskets stick real good to the metal parts and eventually tear and leak. Teflon is slippery and cold flows and remains sealed. My advice is to replace with Fel-Pro teflon coated gaskets.

thanx for the response guys,
both intake bolts at this point were considerably loose
at present my plan is to simply tighten them up, without too much more disection, and leave it at that.
and perhaps revisit the head/intake gaskets at summer's end when she's outta service.

by the way, for those of us that have never seen the backside of the runners, here's a coupla quik pix...
