I own a set of these and they are of excellent quality. My only (post install) gripe is that the flanged extensions do not fit an automatic transmission (flanges need to extend about 3" to clear). If you have an automatic you'll need to take the extensions to a shop and have the flanges eliminated.

Also, the AIR injection connection is moved back about 1.5" to the 5&6 header tubes. This means some tube bending (or in my case complete elimination.. by choice) of the AIR tubing.

I don't want to turn anybody away from EM headers. They are very good pieces. I just want people to know that there is a minor amount of tweaking to get them to work. And my comments only apply to the '96 version of the Vette since that's what I've got

EDIT: I've posted a couple negatives but I need to balance that with some positives:

The EM headers fit superbly (make sure you reverse the drivers side engine mounting bolt.. as per instructions). The bolt holes line up perfectly so there is no "grinding to fit" like I've heard about with mainstream headers. I only had to "dent" one header for bolt access. And that was slight. I've had these headers installed for well over a year and they still look brand new. You won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase these headers. They just need to make 'em in stainless

Merle,

I am ready to buy a set but have a couple of questions.

Is the 4-6 week ship date from today or the end of the GP?
Could you weld in an extra 02 bung before the headers are coated? If so how much?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I also need a set. What extra modifications will I need for my 95 automatic convertible. What about emmisions and 02's changes. I want to delete the cats at the same time also. Is that what the extensions are for? Do 95's already have 02 sim's? Will I need to weld anything or bend/dent pipes. How long will the coating last compared to the stainless headers? IOW will it rust or peel of after a few years? Warranty? Extra 02 bung welded in? Will I need that too? Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks in advance

Well if you delete the cats emissions wise you have to buy O2 sims. Then you will have to pray that they dont do a sniffer or look up under your car during testing. The sims will be placed on the 2 O2's post cat on the 95's. Read the top entry and that will explain your modifications for automatic and denting or bending. Stainless headers depending on the type of stainless last longer than coating but from what I heard coating runs cooler. Coating can last anywhere from 3+ years usually. Coating doesnt usually have a warranty. If you buy the headers and they wont work on your car for some odd reason which shouldnt occur EM in the past has helped people fix their problem. Just call Merle...he will take care of everything for you.

Are the extensions 2 1/2" or 3" in diameter?

I've already used up this years budget on brakes and tires

Oh well, next year unless I hit the lottery before then.
Headers and exhaust is the next mod.

The extensions did not fit as shipped on my 95 either.

However, the headers are great!!

Only 1 O2 is located after the cats on a 1995 and I had to run a sim even with CATS so its a wash cats or sans cats when it comes to the O2s. Denting and or bending would not give me clearance for the flange. I had to go to a muffler shop and have the flange eliminated.

I'm almost certain on the 94-95's you can eliminate the one rear o2 sensor without throwing a code. No o2 sim is needed.

I've not run a rear O2 on my '95 for some time and it has never thrown a code. I'm not sure about the '94 though.

So for a 95 do you run 2 o2 sensors in the front, or do you use 2 sims in the front?

Also, what about ARP bolts VS. stock bolts for mounting accessories?
If you use ARP bolts, do you have to do something else to mount accessories?

I was under the impression that 95s (what I have) - come standard with heated O2s... I have no cats on my car and no codes... So at least 95s should still utilize the original 02s I believe (I have no idea about other years). - - - Sadly I was hoping that we would get a SWs GP going... I'd still rather have SS and 1 5/8" primaries...

Yes, you still need to use the front o2 sensors. They control the closed loop A/F ratio.
