Default Need advise

I have a 84 crossfire, and I just returned from a 1400 mile "shakedown" run to Vegas, then down to Sun City Ca., then to I-8 all the way back to Tucson AZ.,and it seemed to run fine until I hit Yuma Az.,then it just QUIT on me when I was cruising at 73mph. I coasted over to the side, sat for a minute, and it started right up and ran OK the rest of the way! I had the air on,[outside temp was about 105],the motor temp was about 205-210,but the only thing I could figure was I was running a little low on gas, showing about a 1/4 tank when it quit! After I filled it up,it seemed better. Could that low fuel affect the pump draw.Any helpfull ideas would be appreciated

As far as the fuel affecting the pump, I would guess that the additional fuel keeps the pump cooler because it would be more submerged. In that heat it might make a difference on a older pump.

not to just say,"put in a new pump" but its probobly the case. The pump is probobly 22 years old and its a low pressure TBI pump that probobly is on its last leg. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, the fuel pump job on our 84-96 C4's is pretty simple and straight forward with no tricks involved. You could purchase the pump for under $85 and do it yourself with a few basic tools.

Thanks, the pump is one of the parts I did not replace when going thru the car. I will do it soon, just to be safe.

Thanks, and it probably figured into the problem. It was low on fuel, and coupled with the heat, didn't cool enough, and being old,got weak, and slowed the fuel delievery enough to cause a shortage.
