Default Dyno today, oh well

Well guys I took the vette to the dyno today to get some baseline numbers for the 383. We pulled it 5 times and tweaked on the FP and timing. (My dyno graph is being posted in my picture section at this moment.) Anywho, it pulled around 320HP each time and 370 TQ each time. I was dissappointed with it, hoping for around 350 HP and 400 TQ. Started planning on changes to get me there, fuel pump, true dual exhaust, maybe superram.

Well, the next guy up was a C6 with mods.(LS2) The car rolled in and sounded as quiet as a Toyota. He laid down 3 runs that were 420HP and 370 Torque and this was N/A. The torque curve was flat from 3500 to 6000, truly amazing.

Well now I am in the dumps because of all the dang hard work I put into my ride and this guy comes and puts 100hp on me. My torque curve was flatter this time around but nothing like his. He was a real nice guy to talk to but it still bums me out. I guess I need to take a long cruise for a while.

No offense, but I think your engine/parts are pretty mismatched.

Add a Superram, take the hotcam out and put in a 219 cam and you'll be all set. Major low-end grunt, good HP.

OR

Add a miniram, and keep the hotcam, and add bigger injectors than stock.. So-So low-end grunt, MAJOR HP.

There is probably a lot more power to be had in your existing setup with a proper dyno tune.

I do agree, however, it is a mismatched setup.

Yes, get rid of your intake. Sell it to someone with a mild 350. Buy a Mini Ram and get it tuned. If you don't quite hit your goal, then get a bigger cam (matched for your head's flow). If you go this far, another tune will tell you if you need more fuel/injector.

My car made very similar numbers and ran a best et (on the old combo) of 12.02 @113 mph. I would not be terribly unhappy. 320 hp is decent

Thanks for the advice guys. I know that what I have isn't too bad and can be corrected/improved. However, that C6 made my car look like a windup toy. Is there any way to have those kinds of results without assistance or having a beast that can't be driven long distances? I have always said you are content with what you have until you see what someone else has. Also, thanks Pete, I figured I could still get low 12's out of it and you confirmed it.

I am still jealous of the early c5 stuff. The c6 just puts egg on all of our faces. Unbelievable power and drivability. I am actually considering building a 420 cube small block, just to keep up with a modded c5

You seem a little shy in the torque dept. Suprised you didnt see more with a 383.

Dynos can be pretty humbling, but dont let that deter you. Take it to the track and see what the slip says. LS motors are power monsters, our old school motors dont even compare. Some good tips above were posted.
Dont give up-Enjoy your car and keep modding!
